Why Are My Oak Trees Dying?
Attention woodland owners, are you noticing that your oak trees are dying?
Although this has not been in the news yet, many woodland owners are noticing
something is very wrong with their oak trees. And, more are beginning to die.
Here’s what can be happening …
It could be drought. Trees stressed by drought can take months to years to show the
effects of drought. It could the onset of diseases: 1) Anthracnose, a fungal disease
that targets oak trees and other species. 2) Hypoxylon, also a fungal disease. It is
airborne, native to our area. These are likely the major sources of the destruction of
oak trees.
As a consulting forester, here’s how I can help ...
I can monitor oak trees in the early stages of drought and/or disease onset. When tree
conditions worsen, I can market the trees for sale before they get to zero timber value.
